Of The Times: Scholars

Title: Scholars
Fandom: S03
Author: Gothatheartholo
Characters: Luther and Fayt
Disclaimer: Don’t own.
Summary: When they were friends…
A/n: For the lufay challenges: red, white, and blue; fountain of youth; for the 15 spells: transformation. This takes place in Of The Times, before they started to have a relationship.

----

“The Fountain of Youth,” Luther started in a smooth voice that caused shivers to run up Fayt’s spine, “is supposed to be a fountain that grants the drinker extraordinary longevity.” He glanced behind him and Fayt, who was carrying Luther’s books, rolled his eyes.

“I already know that,” Fayt said with a frown, green eyes flashing in defiance. Sometimes he didn’t like the way Luther treated everyone, including himself, like mindless fools who'd follow him around as though they were spellbound. Luther smiled at him and Fayt had the urge to roll his eyes again.

“So you do,” Luther went on as he and Fayt continued to walk in the spacious grounds of the Sphere University in daylight. People stared and gaped at them in awe, but Luther never returned their gazes and gave them the smile that he had given to Fayt. It was strange.

“Do you think it exists?” Fayt inquired, stopping momentarily at the sight of three children running around in the park. One child was adorned in blue; the other was red, and the last was white. They laughed in a carefree manner, playing their game of tag and it struck Fayt of just how innocent they were.

He sighed wistfully. Once they entered the University like Luther and himself, and as life overtook them, their innocence would fade away, transforming them into jaded adults. He glanced at Luther, who had stopped, a curious and inquisitive look on his face.

“No,” Luther stated finally. “There is a Fountain of Youth, but I do not believe that it grants such traits.” He snorted haughtily and once again proceeded with their stroll. Fayt trailed behind him, looking at Luther’s white clad back. He had to admit it was intimidating to be in his presence, but simultaneously, it was an honor for Luther to prefer his company over the others.

He wondered why he was carrying Luther’s books though. Couldn’t the damn genius carry the books himself?

Oh no, he’s not meant to do labor work, his subconscious said with a trace of sarcasm.

And Fayt couldn’t help but agree.

Fin.
