Rufus/Cloud drabble/ficlet: Quite a Moment

Title: Quite a Moment
Fandom: FF7
Author: Gothatheartholo
Pairing: Heavily implied Rufus/Cloud
Rating/Warning: Eh, pg13 at the least.
Disclaimer: Don’t own those people.
Summary: Rufus talks too much for Cloud’s tastes, really.
A/n: For the Sim and Diff challenge: Blue. This is actually an old-ish fic of mine that I wrote probably months ago and was planning to revise, but then, now, I’m like, “to hell with it” so XD yeah. :D Not holding back anymore. Also, I felt like posting. So nyah. This takes place after AC… I guess.

----

They were in a new restaurant of sorts; the impeccably dressed president was sitting across from Cloud and signaling his Turks to step back, because otherwise the people in the restaurant would be too uptight, eyes watching too closely to the Hero and the Anti-Hero. The problem was, who was who?

Rufus was all smiles, mysterious blue eyes gleaming.

Cloud stared at him, lips pulled into a frown. Rufus wouldn’t randomly visit him and drag him into a restaurant like this. Said restaurant looked strangely romantic too, a mockery of their meeting.

Then Rufus opened his mouth and started talking.

Unlike the others, he actually paid attention and had already noted Rufus’ real intentions. Rufus wanted his help, because of what Cloud represented to the people of the Planet: the Hero, the Hope, even though Cloud didn’t feel that he deserved such titles. He glanced at Rufus and the Turks behind him and also noticed how they were in the background.

And then recalled how much they had really faded into the background after the defeat of Sephiroth’s remnants.

His gaze turned back on Rufus who was still talking in such a persuasive manner that if Cloud were anybody else, he or she’d be completely convinced and would do whatever Rufus wanted. Rufus himself wasn’t that bad of a person anymore; he could see the regret in Rufus’ eyes and strangely enough, as he examined Rufus’ face and shoulders, he noticed the strain, the burden-- all of the emotions he was very familiar with.

Rufus was still talking though, and perhaps a little too much. His seductive voice wrapped all around him and all he could do was nod and nod because he was more of a listener than a talker, though that might change once Rufus voiced out things that he didn’t agree with. And then he was resting his chin on his palm, eyes drifting halfway closed, but he was still looking at Rufus.

And then his eyes focused on that mouth that wouldn’t keep silent. Too many words; eloquent words of empty promises were spilling from those lips. He frowned again and arched an eyebrow, feeling a bit irked.

Too much, too much. Why don’t you just get to the point? Don’t give me anymore lies, no more illusions-- truth.

Without thinking he reached out, pressed a finger lightly on Rufus’ mouth, and said, “Shut up.”

Suddenly he realized something rather disturbing: they were in a romantic restaurant, sitting together and talking-- or at least Rufus was talking with that persuasive voice of his, and he had just put his finger on his ex-enemy’s mouth.

It was, in a way, strangely sensual.

He stared at Rufus again, pulled his finger back and almost smiled at the look of utter surprise on the president’s smooth-looking face. He almost wanted to laugh, but somebody else did that for him after a long, uncomfortable silence.

“Reno,” Rufus warned, eyes narrowing, but Reno smirked at him. Cloud didn’t know why he did that though.

Cloud just shook his head and sighed. This was getting ridiculous.

How long did he have to stay here?

Fin?

A/n: I wrote it for the lulz factor :D hell, most of my fics start off that way. :D Uh, feed the muses?
