Gloomy and aloof.

That pretty much summarized Squall Leonhart.

Because every time Sora would go to his English class, Professor Leonhart would always give them a wary look, tell them to sit down, be quiet and listen to his sometimes tedious lectures. If the class was lucky for any type of interaction, they’d be given several tests or quizzes. Sometimes both.

Sora wondered then what had made him be like that. From what he knew of the professor so far, Professor Leonhart never married and was single.

Maybe he was just lonely, Sora thought. Is he always alone like this?

His question was answered when he and said professor had ended up waiting for the bus to get home. They have been sitting on the bench, side by side. Sora was playing with his thumbs; the professor was staring blankly ahead.

And then it began to rain.

Sora opened his umbrella and glanced at his professor. “Aren’t you cold?”

“It doesn’t matter,” Professor Leonhart said softly. “My bus is already here.” As the bus stopped, the professor got on and Sora was left to himself.

Sometimes Sora felt like he was talking to a troubled man rather than a professional.

Sora was getting too close.

In all the years of teaching, nobody had sought him out, had reached out to him like this.

Sora was standing outside his door, wet from the rain. It reminded him of the time they had waited together in that bus stop.

“Can I come in?” Sora inquired, shivering.

Leon knew the implications of that, but he couldn’t stop himself. Sora came inside and Leon closed the door. “You can dry yourself in the bathroom. It’s over there.”

Sora glanced back at him and smiled a brilliant smile. “Thanks.”

He would never forget that. Never.

Sora broke through him with a kiss.

Leon didn’t understand why or how. It didn’t even register his mind that Sora was years younger than him.

And he was kissing back.

He had told Sora a few things that nobody else knew. He had let him in.

Once they broke apart, Sora was smiling at him. “So this is what it’s like to fall in love.”

Leon leaned back on the couch and turned on the T.V. “Something like it.” He felt Sora moving closer to him; they were practically snuggling. Leon looked at him and sighed. “Only for you.”
