--

The Sphere Company have always been one of the best companies around with their superior simulation technology, their well-known staff and of course, their Owner:

Luther Lansfeld.

However, while companies had their high points, they also had their low points; because of the rival companies of the Sphere Company, it was experiencing the latter.

Fayt knew all of this and being Luther’s partner, he was more than a little worried. Every time Luther would come home, Fayt would see a piece of his mask, that supposedly perfected calmness, slowly deteriorate. He wouldn’t be surprised if Luther had already fired a few people who he deemed had worsened the state of the company.

To make things worse, Luther have refused to acknowledge the stress he was feeling. Fayt was tempted to tell him that he was an idiot for ignoring such an important factor to his health and that perhaps he needed a break, not just for his own sake and Fayt’s, but for the company’s as well.

He looked at the digital clock on the wall and saw the time. 4:30 pm. The meeting should be over by now. He glanced at the white living room, gazed at the sunset through the wide, clear windows and settled for lying on the white couch. He lay his head on the armrest and took out his communicator. He turned it on and called his partner.

The communicator beeped and on the little screen, it finally showed Luther’s weary-looking face.

“I heard it’s getting tense there,” Fayt said with a hint of what he was feeling earlier. Luther should catch that already, but even if he did, he might just disregard it as Fayt being a worrywart like he always was about Luther.

“It’s nothing for you to be concerned about,” Luther said with a dismissive wave of his white-gloved hand. Fayt frowned at this and crossed his arms stubbornly. “The situation is under control, Fayt.”

“Then why don’t you come home?” Fayt suggested. “I know Blair can take care of things up there.” He smiled a little just to assure Luther, but the Owner shook his head.

“The company right now is at a critical state. If I leave, then it will grow out of my control,” Luther explained with a small sigh. “You should already know this if you have been paying attention to the news.”

“Well, the news don’t always tell everything that needs to be told,” Fayt countered and the smile on his face widened. “If that’s how things are, then I guess I can’t interfere.”

“I’ll be at home by nighttime,” Luther said with his own small smile. “Does that ease your worries?”

“Yeah, it does,” Fayt answered with a lighthearted laugh. “I’ll see you later.” He waved at his partner and turned it off. He sighed deeply and closed his eyes. If only he could work with Luther side by side, but he wasn’t even finished with college yet. And he wasn’t a genius like Luther, because if he was, then he wouldn’t be slacking off and playing the demo games that Luther would give to him.

But he supposed in a way, he contributed to the company because he would usually be the first person to test out the simulation games and see if there were any errors or bugs. He just wished he could do a little more and ease that mountain of stress on Luther’s shoulders.

--

Without Fayt living with him, Luther might as well call his mansion a house. The word house had all the connotations of something large, cold, lonely and empty. But now, it was his home because he had Fayt to look forward to and Fayt to welcome him home.

As he sauntered to his home, he remembered the time he met the young college student. They had met in the University of Aquios during a demonstration of the simulation technology.

Fayt had caught his eye not just because of his looks (young and slender, with eyes that burned green fire), but because of his potential. Luther could tell by the questions Fayt had asked on that day that he was curious to learn, curious to explore the unknown and perhaps embrace change.

The only problem was the culture, the slothful culture that had restricted Fayt and made him lazy and bored and remained unchallenged. Luther would have already tapped into that potential, would have already made Fayt his apprentice of sorts, if not for the complications that the company was going through right now. Luther wasn’t even sure if getting involved with Fayt romantically have helped or hindered things, but he supposed it was too early to tell.

He stopped and watched the doors slide open and then came inside. He walked in the hallway and wondered where Fayt was. If Fayt was studying, he’d likely to be in the library and if Fayt was waiting for him (like he usually was) then he’d be in the living room.

Luther decided to check the latter just because of the likeliness of him being there (attempting to ignore the little shiver of delight that went up his spine and the sudden warmth in his heart).

Indeed, there was Fayt lying on the couch, adorned in white, flimsy pajamas. Fayt seemed to be asleep, but Luther noticed that he was holding something in his hands: the communicator.

Luther made his way over to the couch and sat down, looking at his partner thoughtfully. He took off one of his gloves and was about to touch Fayt’s face, only to have Fayt grab at his wrist with a surprisingly strong grip.

“Hello,” Fayt whispered with a small smile, his green eyes bright with mischief.

“How was your day?” Luther asked before Fayt could continue on.

Fayt sat up and shrugged. “Fine, I guess. Didn’t do much. I studied, cooked, studied, played some of those games you wanted me to test out and called you and… waited.”

“Good,” Luther said with a nod. “You’re doing what I was expecting you to do. That’s very good.” This earned him the rolling of eyes and a scowl. Luther laughed at this. “What, do you think you’re staying in here for--”

He couldn’t speak. Fayt was kissing him.

And it wasn’t like a tedious chaste kiss, this one awakened him and slowly as they continued to kiss passionately, the stress was beginning to dissipate. Slender arms wrapped around him and he closed his eyes.

Something began as clothes slid to the floor, as skilled hands roamed across heated skin and as they engaged in intense foreplay. It ended when he lost himself in the heat, when he and his lover both cried out after their release.

And then they were panting for their breath. Luther dislodged himself from his partner and was once again pulled into another embrace. He would have protested because this was entirely strange in that Fayt was supporting him and not the other way around. But he didn’t have the strength to move away; he was melting; he was in bliss.

This was his little piece of heaven.

--

“I have more news,” Luther declared to his colleagues in a smooth, controlled tone of voice, “in a month or so, we will have an intern working with us. I want you to treat him as you would treat me and if I hear otherwise, I think it’s quite obvious what the consequences will be.”

Some of his subordinates nodded their heads while the others murmured their confirmations. He glanced at his older sister, who had a curious look on her face.

“How do you do it?” Blair inquired, walking towards him. With the meeting finally dismissed, the others were already walking out of the meeting room. Luther and Blair were the last to leave. After the doors were closed, Luther faced his sister, took out his communicator and smirked.

He turned it on, called his partner and showed it to Blair.

“Hi!” Fayt greeted with a big smile on his face. “How did the meeting go?”

Blair stared at the screen for a minute. There was a certain flush on his cheeks and his eyes were strangely bright. She glanced at Luther and noticed the same complexion. Something in her mind clicked.

Blair blushed and heard her brother say goodbye to Fayt, who seemed to be more than a friend to her younger brother. Of course, their relationship was already obvious to her but for her brother to be so blatant about it now…

She smiled slightly and watched her brother go.

In his strides, he was confident, determined and unperturbed.

And it was all thanks to Fayt Leingod.

Fin.
