III: Intermission

They were at Edge’s mall, standing by the nearest game store. Kadaj wanted more video games. Cloud just wanted to take a nap. But he couldn’t have that now, could he? His little brother had dragged him over here. Why had he allowed this? Why couldn’t he just refuse Kadaj?

Wait, if he did, then Kadaj would annoy him even more. Oh yeah, that was the reason.

Kadaj began to tug at his sweatshirt. Cloud sighed and both went inside the store. Cloud wasn’t really interested in games, because he had other things to do like hang out with Zack and deliver so-and-so since he was a part-time delivery boy.

As Kadaj looked around with his wide, innocent eyes, Cloud leaned against the wall. He did that often, because he wanted to and it got him thinking of the things he forgot, of the things he needed to remember like lists and stuff for school. He really was a normal person that way.

But it seemed that he wasn‘t alone.

A dark-haired man was resting by his side, his back pressing against the wall. There was something odd about him, especially with his gleaming red eyes and his dark blue suit. But Cloud couldn’t exactly pinpoint it, even as his memory flashed him back to his conversation with Yazoo.

“Do you come here often?” he asked, because there had to be a reason why that dark-haired man was here, just as he was here. The dark-haired man looked completely out of place. Didn’t blend in like Cloud and his little brother with their everyday baggy clothes. Cloud had a nasty feeling about this.

“Hmm?”

And then it hit him. The suit, this man was a…

“You‘re a Turk, aren‘t you?”

This place was heaven.

Kadaj wished he could buy all the games he wanted, but he knew that Cloud was kind of broke. They should have asked money from Yazoo earlier, but Yazoo had been teasing Cloud about something and he had been too busy playing his other games.

Well, whatever. He’d buy just one game and then they could explore the mall and eat and probably go visit the remains of Midgar because that place had a ton of cool stuff like glowing balls and a graveyard of trains!

“Nii-san?” Kadaj called out as he picked the game he wanted the most. There were so many people in this store, mingling and bumping into each other like bumper cars and throngs of balloons. When he couldn’t find his brother, he ventured out of the store and looked around.

He got himself lost in the crowds and tried to ignore that little panicky voice in his head— the one that was telling him that he was a lost little boy and without Cloud, he was probably going to be kidnapped and molested like— like, what might happen between Yazoo and his red-haired stalker!

Eww!

Suddenly, somebody bumped into him. He fell on his butt and winced. He looked up and saw a shapely woman adorned in all crimson. Even her eyes were the color of freshly spilled blood.

“Are you lost, darling?” she inquired with a pretty razor sharp smile. Kadaj nodded, bedazzled by all the different shades of red. “Hmm, normally, I do not deal with little boys, but you seem very very lost.”

“I’m looking for my Nii-san,” Kadaj said softly, and the woman just grinned widely and held out her hand. He took that hand because he didn’t want to get lost again. They strolled the mall, as the Red Lady and as the Little Silver-Haired Boy. They found their way back to the game store and there was his Nii-san!

“Kadaj!” Cloud called out, coming over to him. Kadaj let go of the Red Lady’s hand and went to his brother’s side. Cloud glanced at the Red Lady and then looked behind him.

Who was that man in a dark blue suit?

His eyes were red too! And that suit, it looked familiar to him! Yazoo’s red-haired stalker wore the same thing…

“Let’s get out of here,” Cloud muttered, but Kadaj didn’t understand. Why was Cloud worried? But he trusted Cloud and followed him as they made a mad dash for the exit and left the Red Lady and the Dark-Haired Man.

“Well, well, if it isn’t Vincent Valentine.”

“Rosso the Crimson.”

“Ah, my love. How I missed you.”

“…”

A/n: D: It seems that I have lost teh funnies! Plot has inserted itself in here somehow! NO!

And it didn’t come out the way I wanted it. Oh well, I kind of fan girl Rosso, because she’s hawt. @_@
