Ritsuka had changed.

It made Seimei proud, but--

He didn’t expect Ritsuka to be mad at him. He expected Ritsuka not only forgive him, but to give himself to Seimei, because love was about surrender. Love was about giving up everything to be with the one you loved, the beloved.

The people around Ritsuka had been so annoying. They were a bad influence on Ritsuka. The Zeroes didn’t know about pain. Soubi didn’t know about love. What could they have taught Ritsuka that he couldn’t?

People were always trying to kill him. Seimei had always known how to survive. Good and Bad didn’t mean a thing to him. They were labels that simplified things that were far too complicated for ordinary people.

He killed, but only to rid of what must be gone, to create the perfect world for him and Ritsuka.

He killed, not out of some sick joy, but because it was necessary. They were the sacrifice. But Ritsuka didn’t see that. Ritsuka could only see what was in front of him. He could not see past Seimei’s actions. He could not see what Seimei was trying to do.

But Ritsuka was just a child.  

(For now, just for now.)

Seimei smiled at the thought and gazed at the battlefield before him. Bloodless and Loveless. How appropriate.

Bloodless were merely stalling them. Soon, they would be defeated and once again, he would face Ritsuka.

This time, he would make Ritsuka understand him.

He would make Ritsuka see that all he had been doing these many, many years was for him and him alone, because he loved Ritsuka--

--more than anything in the world.
