Rating/Warning: PG for now?

Summary: AU. Luther Lansfeld has hired a new worker, but is he who Luther envisioned him to be?
A/n: I wondered what’d happen if I wrote about them without my prevailing bias.

I - First Impressions

***

A sudden beep echoed throughout Luther Lansfeld’s workplace.

    He decided to ignore it.

But then there were the sounds of subtle footsteps and they were becoming louder and louder as the person walked over to him.

    He couldn’t ignore him now.

Luther turned around and pushed the hover chair towards the “intruder” of his workplace. “Sit.”

    “No, it’s alright.”

It was a clear and an assertive male voice.

“If you insist,” Luther said with a small frown. Luther was staring at the “intruder” now. He really was one of the new employees and he seemed a bit too young, with his wide green eyes and his seemingly slim body. He wasn’t even wearing the uniform, only adorned in his house clothes-- light brown shorts and a white sleeveless shirt.

“Do you know why you’re here?” Luther inquired, keeping the tone of his voice soft, yet intimidating. Luther was moving around him now, circling his prey, scrutinizing the blue-haired youth and wondering whether this person truly had the skills to work for Sphere.

“Honestly,” the youth said, “I’m not quite sure.”

    That was a bad sign.

“I was told about your talents,” Luther explained, looking at him directly. “But maybe, I have the wrong person. What is your name?”

    “Fayt Leingod,” Leingod answered. “Sir--”

“Owner,” Luther corrected him. He wasn't sure if he liked this kid. “You will refer to me as the Owner, is that understood?”

Leingod was staring at him, his green eyes narrowing. “Understood, Owner.”

Was that sarcasm in his voice?

Luther let out a derisive laugh. “If you want to work for me, you will learn and obey the rules around here, Leingod.”

“You’re the one who picked me,” Leingod argued, crossing his arms in defiance. “You could have chosen anybody else, but out of thirty-thousand applicants, you chose me. Why?”

“Because,” Luther paused as he stopped and leaned forward, so that their faces were only inches away from each other, “I’d like to see whether the words said about you are true.”

Leingod glared at him. So defiant. He was going to enjoy this one.

“Is this how you treat all your workers?” Leingod asked curiously.

“What of it?” Luther inquired. This was turning out to be an interesting interview.

“Don’t be surprised if somebody strips you of your title, Owner,” Leingod said as he turned around and headed towards the exit of the workplace. “People tend to not do well under the oppression of an authoritarian leader.”

“We’ll see,” Luther said as he watched the new employee go. He turned around and returned to the computer. He pulled out Leingod’s documents and files and read all the information he had on him.

Despite the youth’s attitude problem, Leingod had passed both the interview and the test. He needed workers like him, those who would question his authority, not just for the joy of making them bend under his will, but for the sake of improving the projects of Sphere as well.

“Show me what you have to offer, Leingod,” Luther whispered with a small smile, looking at that youthful face again. “You just might be the person who I’ve been looking for in years…”

    To be continued…

A/n: Um. I dunno what to feel about this. XD I’ll probably rewrite it at some point, when it is a long series of fics. Then I’ll decide whether I really like this.

Anyway, like what you read? Want more ficlets of Luther and Fayt from me? Have any questions, suggestions, criticisms, etc, etc? Please review~!

Just for now, I wanted to write this down before I forget it. XD
